Hi it’s Eric here again from www.erictransue.com. NBA playoffs started this weekend so I’m pretty excited.

I was just sitting here checking the stats on a new Facebook niche page I put up. It reminds me of when I first started putting niche blogs up years ago.

I could put a blog up and have it ranking and bringing in traffic in under 24 hours.

But even better, there was a lot of interaction taking place on the blog once the traffic got there.

Interesting comments.

Links being clicked.

And money being made.

It’s not so easy in the blog world anymore.

And if you’ve put up a new blog recently – you know what I’m talking about.

Especially with Google changing how they rank sites more often than I send out emails.

And I’ve been sending out quite a few lately!

But that’s because I have a lot I want to share with you. Stuff that is going to get you to the place where you don’t have to worry about things like…

Answering to your boss.

Missing out on quality time with your family.

Struggling to pay your bills.

You see I’ve been able to get over 200 fans to a niche site I put up about cameras in a little under 36 hours.

Plus people are clicking “Like.”

Leaving comments.

And sharing on their wall.

All keys to a successful Facebook page!

What’s really cool is I’ve been able to do this without having a whole lot of expertise (yet) in Facebook marketing.

That why I can’t wait for tomorrow to get here…

The Ultimate Social Media challenge training starts tomorrow, and I know I’ll be able to learn tons from Maria.

She has been able to carve out quite a business for herself using social media.

And I’m sure I’m going to learn a thing or two that will really ramp up my page I’m testing.

I’ve been involved in some other social media training that I’ve never mentioned to you.

Because the price was so damn high. I would have been embarrassed had I recommended it to you and it been a flop.

This one I’m not so worried telling you about though.

First off I have several of Maria’s products and they ALL have been awesome.

Plus this one is a really affordable seven bucks.

It’s hard to find training like this at this price point these days.

And that’s why I jumped on it right away.

It’s not something I wanted to miss out on.

I’ll keep you updated on how my page turns out once I implement some of the new techniques I learn this week.

Did you hear the news about Facebook buying Instagram for $1 Billion?

Wow!

Here’s the story on Forbes

I’ve never used Instagram myself. But I’ve definitely seen the shots in my Facebook feed.

I do know it’s some sort of picture taking app that allows you to take photos and then apply cool filters and share them.

But man, a billion bucks for an App company? The whole Flikr site didn’t sell for that much.

A while ago I got really interested in apps.

And had a brainstorming session with my wife about it. I think we came up with some pretty clever ideas.

Things like “cats in hats.” A silly app where you can throw funny hats on pictures of your cat. I’m sure it’s been done several times by now.

I even went out and bought this book on the recommendation of a few people that were already successfully selling apps in the app store.

After reading it I was pumped to jump into the world of apps.

But I didn’t…

Why?

Well that’s a tough question to answer.

I think the main reason I am not in the app market today – is because I didn’t take IMMEDIATE action.

Soon as I finished reading that book.

The point when my enthusiasm was at a 20 on a scale from 1 to 10…is the time when I needed to take the first step.

It didn’t have to be a big step. Just a small step to get me moving in the right direction.

But I didn’t – and now I sit here with regret.

I’m sure I can still get into the app market. In fact I have no doubt about it. The market is growing like algae in an abandoned pool.

But I feel like I wasted so much enthusiasm that I had built up. Something that I’ll need to dig up again – if I want to ensure success.

Have you ever been at the point where you were super pumped on an idea you had?

But then sat there and did nothing.

Well how about we promise each other that the next time our enthusiasm level is off the charts for an idea we have, we take action?

Sound like a deal?

I think I’m going to read it again on my trip to Texas this weekend.

Most of us as kids were taught to not take candy from strangers.

And there was a very good reason for that.

You never know what a strangers intentions may be.

But as you get older, you become more trusting. You’ll pretty much talk or interact with any stranger you come across.

…as long as they don’t look to threatening.

But when it comes to making a living online, you may want to go back to your old childhood instincts.

I had a boss that used to say “Trust but verify.”

Which means exactly what it says. If someone tells you something, it’s okay to trust them. But go ahead and verify it for yourself just to make sure.

When it comes to making a living as an online entrepreneur there is a lot of advice being thrown around.

Tons of self proclaimed gurus telling you what is working.

And tons of gurus telling you what isn’t.

For instance I recently read a post by one of these so called gurus talking about how sending paid traffic directly to a product sales page no longer works.

The new school method says a relationship must be built first. So it’s better to capture their email address on a squeeze page and then sell them through your followup emails.

I agree- in the long run this is a better plan.

But when someone tells me something doesn’t work – a little voice in me tells me I have to try it.

So last weekend, I picked a Clickbank product and started sending paid traffic to it.

I didn’t set up a single page. I pointed my paid traffic straight to the sales page of the product using my affiliate link.

And as of right now – after running this campaign for 3 days, I have a 73% ROI.

So for every hundred bucks I spend on paid traffic, I’m getting $173 in sales. A profit of $73 per hundred spent.

Not bad for something that is running on autopilot!

So the next time a guru tells you something no longer works. Take some time and test it out yourself.

You may be surprised at your results.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much basketball I’ve watched over the last week or so.

My alma mater Long Beach State got eliminated in the first round. Bummer!

I’ve read so many reports on major news sites like CNN about how much corporate money is lost each year due to employees watching March Madness.

And the numbers are shocking!

I can only imagine how much money Facebook costs these same companies.

Staggering I bet.

But Facebook isn’t only costing large companies money…

It might be costing YOU money as well.

As an online entrepreneur you really need to work on getting the most out of your time.

You have other things that need your time and attention.

Family, friends, exercise…and building your business to the point that gives you the freedom you and your family deserve.

But if you are wasting precious time on Facebook doing worthless crap like reading what others are eating for lunch, or growing corn on your farm….STOP!

Facebook can be an excellent tool for your business if used correctly.

But used the wrong way – it can be deadly to your success.

Some people ask me why I have a page and a personal profile on Facebook.

Simple really.

I don’t like bombarding my family with my marketing stuff.

I’m sure they appreciate that.

So I created a page.

But cranking up the activity on my page is definitely one of my goals.

Are you using your personal page for your business?

If so, you may want to take some time and create a page that is business only.

Your family and non marketing friends will appreciate it.

If you are going to waste time on Facebook – you might as well do it building your business and not your farm.

Do you ever sit and ask yourself, “When the hell am I going to finally start making some money online?”

If you do – you aren’t alone.

I’ve been there. And it sucks.

You feel like you are trying everything possible, but things just aren’t clicking.

It seems like everyone except you is having success with these techniques you are trying.

But all you see is money going out. And nothing coming in.

I’m going to break down how I finally got over the “not making any money” hump.

Action and Focus

First off you need to take action. And you need to take it quickly.

Have you heard the phrase “money likes speed?” That may not be the exact phrase, but it’s something along those lines.

Well, it’s true.

The faster you can take action – the quicker you are going to make money.

Stop trying to be perfect with everything.

Are you scared to put up a new page or post on your website because it’s not perfect?

Are you scared to send an email to your list or start building a list because you are worried you don’t have things configured right?

Are you scared to create your own product because…

…I think you get the point.

Do yourself a favor and face that fear. Tackle a project or task you’ve been holding off on.

Do it today, and do it quickly. Don’t worry about mistakes – get it out there!

You can always tweak and improve it after you do.

The second part of the equation is focus.

Pick one task or project to work on at a time and follow it through to completion.

I recently did this myself. I have several things that I work on – but decided to set everything aside for one week.

During that week I dove in and created my List Building product List Seduction.

For one week all I did was focus on getting that product created and out the door. And I did!

Sure there were some issues once I launched – but I was able to get them resolved pretty quickly.

I didn’t do anything special for my List Seduction product. It’s simply a PDF report I wrote.

You can write a report can’t you?

Well good news! Then you can create a product too!

All it takes is a little Action and Focus.

Soon you’ll start to see actual money coming in rather than just going out…a feeling I think you’ll enjoy.

Wow! I’ve been getting quite a few questions about List Seduction, so I figured I’d shoot out a quick email and try to answer a few of them.

After all I don’t drink coffee – so I spend my mornings with a cup full of email instead.

“Eric is list building as important as people say?”

This is an easy one. The answer is yes!

If you’ve ever put a website up or tried to advertise one, you’ll be the first to agree with me when I say, it sucks when someone else has power over you. And when you don’t have a list, that’s exactly what’s happening.

Google can make some tweaks and drop your website way down in their rankings. Or even worse remove it completely. Or if you use any sort of paid advertising, your account can get banned without you even knowing what violation caused it to get banned. Oh and you’re better off looking for Bigfoot than you are trying to find someone who can help you get your banned account reactivated.

But now imagine that you have built a list from your website, or paid advertising. If you drop in the rankings or your account gets banned, so what? You can ride it out until you figure out your next move. All because you have a list. And with that list you can send out emails in order to get feedback, drive traffic or even promote affiliate products or your own product.

And I have no problem promoting it this way. Why? Because I believe list building is important to anyone who wants to find success online. And I’m confident that List Seduction will help you not only build a list, but build a quality list.

“Do I need a blog to build a list?

This one is a little trickier, but the simple answer is no. Really all you need to get started is a simple squeeze page. You can use a free site to host your page, or you can use paid hosting and your own domain name. I prefer the latter, but either one will work.

The key here is, just start building one. If you start thinking things like I need a blog…blah…blah…blah, you get sidetracked. Next thing you know all your focus is on making your blog look good and not on building a list.

Worry about list building first! Once you have that going you can go back and pretty up your blog or website.

Start with a simple squeeze page. I just wrote a little note to myself to send out some examples in a future email so keep an eye out for that.

“What do you mean when you say List Seduction is different from traditional list building?

This is another great question. Traditional list building usually involves putting up a squeeze page and offering a free report or ebook in exchange for the email address.

Now there isn’t anything wrong with this – other than it slows down your list building efforts. Too many people bog themselves down with, “What type of report should I write?”, “How long should it be?”, “What if people don’t like it?”

Next thing you know you’ve talked yourself out of writing one – and out of building a list. With List Seduction, you don’t have to create any fancy reports to try and impress people. You use what I call “Digital Pheromones.” And these are easy for even the most novice list builder to release. And once they are out there, you begin to show what you have by being yourself. Something that will draw in people that are really interested in you – and learning from you. These are the people you want on your list. Not someone looking for a quick way to build a few backlinks that can give a rats ass about you.

Best of all you can start using the List Seduction techniques today. In fact you probably already are. I can almost guarantee it if you’ve ever made a video, blog post or been on a forum.

Wow, what a day it was yesterday!

As you know I launched my product List Seduction and had an excellent response.

But boy did the morning start off shaky.

As you may have heard there was a huge launch for a product called Hook Pigeon yesterday.

Here’s what I’m talking about

The product is all about driving huge amounts of traffic using free methods.

Judging from what I saw yesterday during my own launch, the Hook Pigeon creator Chris Munch knows what he’s doing.

He sent so much traffic that it crashed the Warrior Plus servers.

So all these people were eager to buy, but couldn’t because none of the buy buttons were working.

And this effected everyone using Warrior Plus yesterday to launch their own products – yep, yours truly was using it as well.

A little stressful to say the least – but I learned a lot of stuff that I can use for my next launch. So the bumps in the road were worth it.

Oh and in case you were wondering Chris and his product Hook Pigeon recovered nicely. Last I heard it was the fastest selling WSO in history on the Warrior Forum.

Even with the servers crashing. Pretty impressive!

So if you are looking for ways to increase the amount of traffic to your website using free methods. A guy that can crash servers and still have the biggest product launch in history on the Warrior Forum might be the guy you want to learn from.

Just a thought

Have I ever told you that I love making mistakes?

I make them all the time. But I do my best to learn from them and not repeat them.

For instance on this site I review a popular keyword research tool. I’m getting some decent traffic to the post but I’m not getting many people clicking on my affiliate link for the product.

Judging from the time each person is spending on that post, I know the content is keeping them engaged. However, I’m not reaching my goal which is for them to click on the affiliate link.

In order to get a better look at what was going on I installed a WordPress Heatmap plugin that had some great reviews.

What a Heatmap does is allow you to see exactly how your visitor is interacting with your page by creating a graphic showing the things they are clicking on.

You get some amazing insight into the mouse clicks and actions of your visitors that you normally wouldn’t see.

After installing the plugin I was able to correct a huge mistake I was making on my review post I mentioned.

I have several screenshots of the keyword research tool in my post.

The Heatmap plugin showed that I was getting a large number of clicks on the third screenshot on the page.

So I went to my page and clicked on that image. It took me to another WordPress page on my site – where the only content was that image. No review text. No affiliate links. Nothing else to do on that page.

Because of this, I’m assuming most people were leaving my site. They had come to a dead end.

I quickly changed the link on that image to point to my affiliate link.

Within 3 hours I had already made a sale of the software I was reviewing. As I dug a little deeper I was able to see that the sale came from someone leaving my site by clicking on screenshot number 3!

I’m sure I missed out on other sales over the previous few weeks. But I was able to correct my mistake and I’m sure I won’t make that one again in the future.

There are of course other ways to use the Heatmap plugin to greatly improve your site.
