Multiple Domain Web Hosting – Host Nine Review

by Eric Transue on February 1, 2010

As an Internet Marketer I love testing out new ideas and techniques to see what is and what isn’t working.

The problem is, if I make a mistake such as building links to fast or getting links from sites Google frowns upon, I take the chance of getting my test sites sandboxed or deindexed.

I’m probably a little paranoid, but I also fear that other sites I host on the same IP and server may be negatively affected as well.

If you use a hosting company such as Hostgator, which I do use for some of my sites and love, you get a limited number of IP addresses to use depending on your package. You can always add more for an additional cost if necessary.

I recently found a nice alternative for hosting multiple domains.

The hosting company I found allows you to not only use different IPs for each website, but also to choose which region you would like to host them in.

As you can see in the picture below there are several locations you can choose from, both in the US and abroad for hosting your domain.

The name of the hosting company I found is Host Nine.

I’ve been using Host Nine (also displayed as Host 9 or Hostnine) for the past 2 months to try out some different Internet Marketing scenarios.

I do want you to know that although I like being able to put my sites up in different regions globally without paying extra, the site uptime is not quite what I get with my Hostgator account. Now this does vary from site to site, and I have seen great uptime stats with some of my sites and less than great with the others.

The Host Nine customer support has been very responsive and I have noticed that the uptime stats I was seeing at first have been improving on the sites I experienced issues with.

With hosting packages starting at $6.95 a month, I have found this to be a great option for me.

I am able to host multiple websites on different IPs and in different regions without breaking the bank paying for additional IP addresses on my other Hosting accounts.

Also, I sleep a little easier at night knowing I am less likely to affect my non-testing domains.

The coupon code “Save30″ is working at the time of this posting so give it a try and get 30% off any shared or reseller package.

If you have a need to host multiple domains on different IP’s or in different regions, I suggest you take a look at Host Nine by clicking here.

  • Hey Eric,

I wasn't aware of the multiple domain hosting concept but after going through the post I can say that it is really a wonderful concept and I am pretty sure that I will give it a try.

    Thanks for this informative post.
  • It is very important that you understand in detail as to what are the features that your hosting company provides you with. The features offered by a certain hosting company cannot be matched by a certain other and some of the features offered by this hosting company cannot be matched by the former. Like for e.g. Windows hosting is best with GoDaddy whereas, their wordpress hosting or, Linux hosting is not that great.
Hostgator has so far been very satisfying in everything that they offer and I have had a very good experience with them. I would not compromise on a few dollars because most of the time, this compromise ends up in huge losses which is an experience of mine.

  • Thanks for the comment. I agree with what you said and that is why I found the best fit for me is a mix and match approach. I use Hostgator for this domain and for many of my other domains that I need to be reliable. I also know Hostgator support has worked very well for me when I had any issues.

I use HostNine as more of a testing bed. As part of my account I am able to select regions when I set up new domains. This makes it very easy for me to test on different IP blocks in different areas of the country without paying for additional IPs.
